Abstract
The flood risk for a section of the Belgian coastal plain was evaluated by means of two similar flood modeling packages: MIKE FLOOD and SOBEK 1D2D. The submodels and processes available in both packages were matched as closely as possible. Subsequently, the impact of the software package on hydraulics, flood damage and flood risk was quantified. The results from both packages agree well. Some differences occur, but these can easily be explained as a result of unavoidable minor differences in concepts and implementation. The uncertainty associated with the selection of either software package is insignificant compared to other sources of uncertainty.
