Abstract During the past five years an extensive program of field measurements has been carried out to evaluate the effects of wave impacts on the Eastern Scheldt barrier in the netherlands, under operational conditions. High impact pressures were measured. The evaluation of the measurements shows that these high pressures affect only a small area simultaneously.
