Distribution Newfoundland to the Gulf of Mexico [details]

Reproduction Breeds from Greenland to Alaska and south to Maine, Ohio, and northern California. Winters along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts south to Florida and Mexico. Nest consists of a few aquatic plants placed together at the edge of the water or on floating debris. Eggs are laid from late May to late July. [details]
