Etymology McIntosh (1897) introduced Gattyana to replace Nychia, which was a homonym, and he explained the etymology in his 1900 monograph, p.285. The genus is named for Charles Henry Gatty FRSE, FLS, FGS, who funded the establishment of the Gatty Marine Laboratory, St Andrews, Scotland. [details]
