Study and Modelling Eutrophication-related Changes in Coastal Planktonic Food-webs

Period: 1997 till 2002
Status: Completed

Abstract
The proposal 'Study and modelling of eutrophication-related changes in coastal planktonic food-webs' is an interdisciplinary research project on the interactions between continental sources of nutrient and the structure and functioning coastal ecosystems. The application domain will be the Belgian coastal waters. The project will focus on the impact of the river Scheldt nutrient discharge (as compared to atmospheric and Atlantic input) on the structure and functioning of the Belgian shelf Phaeocystis-dominated planktonic ecosystem.
